In 1982 the Univ. of Texas Wind Ensemble's Tom Lee commissioned McLean to write a work of his choosing with "no holds barred" as to how innovative it might be.  It employs extremes of evocative and dissonant textures, and uses nontraditional notation which evokes the soundcloud technique. A score is provided, which follows the music.
