Fantasia was written in 1969 and revised in 1971 while as a doctoral student in composition at IU-Bloomington. It shows a more sophisticated harmonic/gestural palette and lurches into the modern quasi-dissonant age. In the revisions done after 1969  you can hear more timbral interest and a turning away from Hindemith and toward more flair and gesture and individuality.
