Live performance on MIDI instruments using McLean's custom MAX/MSP software
The last in the trilogy (the other two being Magic at Xanadu and Ice Canyons) of live-performed works based on McLean's MAX/MSP software, using in this case his newly-created "Sequencer Playpen," a sophisticated MIDI sequencer. As in previous works in the trilogy, sound generators were the MIDI-controlled Korg Wavestation, Alesis QS6.2, TX 81z, and ASR10 synthesizers. This is a live performance and was premiered at Hamilton College in 2011 and recorded shortly thereafter in McLean's home studio in Petersburgh for the video.
It is a brightly-scored work, optimistic and cheerful, using a more traditional pulsed sequence pattern style.
