Night Conjuror. 2016.

Dur. 9:20.

From Barton McLean," The title says it all. Just let your imagination run wild. The sound images probably came from my early experience as a teenager, with a passion for walking alone through thick woodland trails at night without a flashlight. When your sense of sight is so limited, the slightest sound becomes magnified through one's sound imagination, and if one has a certain outlook, they can become amplifiers of terror or wonder. A rock becomes a monster; a tree becomes a conjuror waiting to transport me to another place. Night walks like these really do free one from the constraints that the visual world impose on ordinary perception.

"This was written using the Symbolic Sound Kyma 7 system, and was the result of a single Kyma Timeline. The visuals are only offered to set the mood. The main focus is on the music.

"As my friends who have experienced my music know, my concept of sound is that it exists in a parallel universe, with each sound eerily recognizable but yet not pinned down to a specific source. My music sounds not electronic, not acoustic, but somewhere in between. My goal is to always let the electronic sounds mimic the real world, and the real world sounds  mimic the electronic. It is only since I have been working with Kyma 7 that this goal has been realized to the extent I hoped someday it would."
