Movement 1 suggests two individual competing piano personalities, and is restless and dramatic. Movement 2 has the pianos merging into one broad, complex atmosphere, often stratified and calmly ethereal.  Premiere: Spring, 1971 at Indiana University South Bend. Pianists: Robert Hamilton and Christine Douberteen.  These two pianists recorded Interplanes for Advance Recordings, AZ in 1976.
